The recent revelation by Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew Perry’s former personal assistant, has shed light on the tragic circumstances surrounding the actor’s death. Iwamasa admitted to finding Perry unconscious multiple times in the period leading up to his demise. It was further disclosed that Iwamasa was responsible for administering a fatal dose of ketamine that ultimately led to Perry’s passing on October 28.
According to the plea agreement obtained by Page Six, Iwamasa confessed to injecting Perry with significant amounts of ketamine, averaging 6-8 shots per day in the days preceding his death. Perry, who had been legally using ketamine to treat his depression, started abusing the drug in September 2023, spiraling into a dangerous territory of addiction.
On the day of Perry’s death, Iwamasa revealed that he injected the actor with ketamine multiple times. Tragically, Perry’s last words were a desperate plea for another dose of the dissociative anesthetic. Following the injection, Iwamasa left Perry alone to attend to errands, only to return and discover the actor lifeless in his jacuzzi, a victim of his own addiction.
The Alleged Conspirators
Authorities have charged several individuals in connection to Perry’s death, including Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, and Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen”. Plasencia, who provided Perry with liquid ketamine and taught Iwamasa how to administer the drug, allegedly roped Chavez into the scheme to profit off Perry’s addiction struggles. The actors reportedly paid the doctors a significant amount for the drug, with Plasencia even making callous remarks about Perry’s willingness to pay for the substance.
Erik Fleming, who acted as a middleman between Perry and an unnamed drug dealer, has already pled guilty to distributing ketamine resulting in death. Similarly, Chavez has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Plasencia, on the other hand, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including conspiracy to distribute ketamine and altering documents related to the investigation, each of which carries a hefty prison sentence.
The tragic death of Matthew Perry serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug abuse and the devastating consequences it can have on individuals and their loved ones. It also exposes the darker side of fame, where vulnerable individuals can fall prey to those looking to exploit their weaknesses for personal gain. As the legal proceedings continue, one can only hope that justice will be served and that lessons will be learned from this heartbreaking loss.
