Märtha Louise of Norway and Durek Verrett recently celebrated their love with an extravagant three-day wedding extravaganza in Norway. One of the pre-wedding highlights was a breathtaking boat tour of the Geiranger Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning beauty.
The couple, along with their 350 guests from around the world, set sail on the fjord the day before exchanging vows. They were greeted on board by girls in traditional Norwegian costumes singing and playing the violin, adding to the magical atmosphere of the day.
As the boats navigated through the towering rocky mountains of the fjord, guests were surprised by a royal salute from the ship’s horn of the nearby royal yacht, where Märtha Louise’s parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, stood on deck to wave and welcome the wedding party.
The warm royal welcome added an extra touch of excitement to the already enchanting boat tour. As the boats sailed on, well-wishers on the banks of the fjord waved Norwegian flags, showing their support and love for the couple.
The highlight of the boat tour was a visit to the fjord’s breathtaking waterfall trails, including the Seven Sisters Falls and The Suitor waterfall. Märtha Louise and Durek, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty, exuded love and affection as they posed for photos.
Märtha Louise, dressed elegantly in a black leather jacket, black skirt, and silver ankle boots, expressed her happiness at sharing this special place with her loved ones. The couple’s genuine joy and appreciation for the beauty of the Norwegian fjords was evident throughout the tour.
A Toast to Love
As the boats continued their journey, Märtha Louise and Durek climbed onto a table on deck to raise their glasses in a celebratory toast to their friends and family. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were among the guests who joined in the celebration, creating a joyous and memorable moment for everyone on board.
Guests enjoyed a picnic lunch with traditional Norwegian dishes, including cheese and quince tart, Norwegian shrimp and salad, and a roulade of smoked salmon, egg, and chive. Each dish was presented in a souvenir lunchbox bearing the couple’s monogram, adding a personal touch to the meal.
